Install the plugin

  1. Download the Cards - Flik Payments zip using the green button above. Don’t unzip it.
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin.
  3. Choose the downloaded flik-woocommerce-pinch-1.0.0.zip and click Install Now.
  4. Click Activate Plugin. WooCommerce must be active first — WordPress will tell you if it isn’t.
  5. Go to WooCommerce › Settings › Payments, find Cards - Flik Payments and click Manage.
Updating instead of installing? You don’t need this page — updates arrive automatically (see step 4).

Add your API keys

Log in to the Flik portal and open API Keys › Pinch Keys. If you can’t see this section, your card payments setup isn’t complete — get in touch with one of our team. Name the key set WooCommerce, then click Generate Pinch Keys. You’ll get two sets of keys — Test Keys for testing and Live Keys for real payments. Each set has three values:

KeyTestLive
Application IDapp_test_…app_…
Secret Keysk_test_…sk_live_…
Publishable Keypk_test_…pk_live_…

Enter them in WooCommerce

On the Cards - Flik Payments settings page (WooCommerce › Settings › Payments › Cards - Flik Payments), paste the Test Keys into the Test API credentials fields and the Live Keys into the Live API credentials fields, then save.

Run a production test

Test with a real card on your live keys — it’s the only way to be sure the whole chain works. Do it with a $1 test product so it costs you almost nothing.

  1. Go to Products › Add New and create a product called Test product with a regular price of 1.00. Under Publish › Catalog visibility, set it to Hidden so shoppers never see it, then publish it and copy its link.
  2. Make sure Test mode is unticked and your Live Keys are saved.
  3. Open the product link, buy it for $1 with a real card, and check the order shows as paid under WooCommerce › Orders.
  4. Then refund it: open the order’s details page, click Refund, enter the full amount and use the Refund via… button (not Refund manually) so the money is actually returned to the card.
  5. Once both work, delete the test product (or leave it hidden for future tests).
Copy the Secret Keys when they appear. The portal shows them once, in the dialog that opens after you generate the set, and never again — if you lose them, generate a new set. They’re never sent to the browser and should never be shared or emailed.

Put Flik at the top of your checkout

WooCommerce lists payment methods in the order you set, and the first enabled one is pre-selected for the customer. Most shoppers just take the default — so putting Cards - Flik Payments first sends the most volume through your cheapest rate and saves you the most in fees.

  1. Go to WooCommerce › Settings › Payments.
  2. Drag Cards - Flik Payments to the top of the list using the handle on the left of its row.
  3. Click Save changes, then load your checkout and confirm Flik is the one selected when the page opens.

Worth disabling any gateway you don’t actually want customers using — every extra option below Flik is a chance for an order to go out at a higher rate.

Automatic updates

The plugin checks for new versions roughly every 12 hours, and updates appear in your WordPress admin under Dashboard › Updates and on the Plugins screen, exactly like any other plugin. Your gateway settings are kept across updates.

To have new versions installed for you automatically, go to Plugins › Installed Plugins and click Enable auto-updates next to Cards - Flik Payments.

Want to check right now? Go to Dashboard › Updates and click Check again, or use the Check for updates link under the plugin’s row on the Plugins screen.
